Work
Based on our findings, observations, and community engagement, we have developed various design interventions that aim to meet community demands while preserving the historical identity of the site. The initial concept reflects community feedback, emphasizing the need for a space for play and social gatherings. Instead of a simple open structure, the proposed design prioritizes safety and awareness of current site conditions, including construction and busy traffic. This approach ensures a thoughtful integration of historical elements with modern community needs.
To achieve this, we have constructed a pavilion installation at the current site, designed to revive the site's cultural heritage and preserve its identity with Dupont Street. This multiprogrammatic space caters to various community needs, serving as a venue for performances, seating, and community gatherings. By blending historical significance with contemporary functionality, the pavilion installation aims to foster a sense of community and continuity, reflecting both the past and present of Dupont Street.
